Background
A multi-national insurance firm known worldwide for their first-rate financial products and services approached Binary Tree with a need for migration services. The company had chosen to migrate several thousand users from Microsoft Exchange to Lotus Notes on a global scale using Binary Tree’s award-winning CMT tool when the need arose to find a consultant who was fluent in both Japanese and English, was familiar with the Japanese Windows interface and could travel to Japan immediately to assist with their Japanese migration. In addition to the consultant’s technical expertise, it was imperative that the consultant fit the client’s corporate culture, a key feature that is often overlooked in many Staff Augmentation recruiting processes, but remains a key component in Binary Tree’s screening process today.

Under the direction and management of Deborah Corcoran, Binary Tree’s Director of Staffing, the recruiting associates set out to find a consultant who could support the Japanese migration of Public Folders and PST files. Within 6 hours, Ms. Corcoran had found the ideal candidate who was able to configure Windows 2000 OS work stations in Japanese, had working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes in Japanese, and was available for the initial 2 week stint needed at the client site.

With the wheels in motion, Binary Tree set about organizing the consultant’s passport and Visa which would enable him to work in Japan. In record time, Deborah had secured his travel documents, and the consultant was on his way to Japan to assist with the migration effort. Not only did the client now have a resource that exceeded all initial requirements, our consultant had the flexibility to work on an as-needed and on-call basis. Our consultant’s knowledge and experience influenced a significant extension on the initial 2 weeks at the client site. His expertise was also invaluable with not only the Japanese migration, but it played a key role in the client’s knowledge transfer to their Mexican support team, specifically in assisting Mexico take over the support for the Japanese templates and design elements.

Industry: Information/Records Management and Storage

Background
In the autumn of 2005, a large, well-known leader in products, services and solutions for information storage and its management found themselves urgently needing the assistance of a qualified consultant to assist them with their storage administration efforts. To maintain their signature first-class service and increase their staff quickly, they turned to Binary Tree.

As the information storage standard for every major computing platform, and the caretaker for more than two thirds of the world’s most essential information, this storage leader was currently in the process of performing a server consolidation to NAS across four locations. The company was in dire need of finding an extra body to begin work immediately and assist in this effort. The client specifically required that the consultant have hands-on knowledge of the company’s internal software, and have strong SAN monitoring/management skills. Because the specialist would be working side-by-side with the client, it was imperative that this individual have the ability to explain management concepts to the client, and perform knowledge transfer.

Because the project contained a large archive element, Deborah Corcoran, Binary Tree’s Director of Staffing, specifically selected a consultant who possessed not only the IT requirements of the client, but also additional key qualities, including strong knowledge of Centera for File Exchange email and Documentum/SAP archive skills – two very complimentary competencies which would greatly assist in the seamlessness of the project.
